Contact Lenses

“Most people who wear glasses can wear contact lenses”

Contact lenses are always a good option for spectacle wearers wanting a new look and freedom from glasses, when playing sport or riding a motorcycle.

Contact lens technology has advanced, making contact lenses easier to insert and remove. Also new manufacturing materials now ensure all day comfort.

There are so many advanced contact lens designs and materials on the market that just about anyone can wear contact lenses.

Stephen Ellerker is a contact lens specialist with advanced qualification in contact lenses. Let him guide you to the contact lens that is best for you.

An Alternative Way of Looking at Life!

If you have been wearing specs for sometime now, you‘ll have grown quite used to them. In fact, so much so that you might have abandoned thoughts of contact lenses. It doesn’t matter whether you wear specs just for driving or just for reading. On the other hand you never go anywhere without your specs. Either way it’s well
worth another look at the alternative to specs.

When you first found that you needed sight correction, you may have made a conscious decision against contact lenses. This could have been for a number of reasons.

•    Perhaps you thought having ‘something in your eye’ would have been uncomfortable.
•    You may have tried older style hard or soft lenses and given up.
•    Or you may have felt contact lenses would be too expensive or too much trouble for you to use.

The good news is that time and technologies have changed - and this makes contact lenses well worth another look.

Your Questions

More people choose contact lenses?

Major advances in contact lens technology have created lenses so comfortable that after a few seconds you don’t even notice they are there. Contact lenses are practically invisible, giving you a more natural look. They don‘t mist up or get splattered in the rain - and they don‘t get in the way during sports and other active pursuits.

Would I have to stop wearing specs?

No - you don’t have to choose between contact lenses or spectacles. You can wear modern contact lenses intermittently because they are so easy to wear. You may decide to use them for special occasions or when playing sports. Or use your spectacles indoors at home, and lenses when you go out. The choice is yours!

Who can wear contact lenses?

Virtually everybody, even those with astigmatism and people who need reading spectacles (or wearing bifocals or multifocals). However, not everyone can wear the same type of lens so we supply and fit several different types and designs.

Which type is best for me?

We will assess your eyes and your wearing requirements and suggest the type of lens we believe will suit your needs. Then we can arrange a trial during which you‘ll be able to see for yourself how easy it is to live with contact lenses.
